Are you following Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar’s case against the NCAA? He’s suing the organization because he’d like to play an eighth season of college football at UT. Aguilar doesn’t feel like the two years he played in junior college should count against his four years of Division One playing time and the NCAA has made concessions in the past. Some fans wonder about his intentions. Is it for his love of the game? No word on what his GPA is but so far his seven years of studying marketing have served him well. Aguilar negotiated close to 1.2 million dollars-worth of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) money for himself for playing just one season (close to 2 million dollars in NIL money is waiting on the table if he gets another season at UT). Aguilar did serve UT well and the VOLS would love to have him back. In the meantime Aguilar would like (the NIL money) and a quick solution from the NCAA, spring training at UT would seem to be far more lucrative. CBS sports analysts feel Aguilar would end up a late round draft pick or an undrafted free agent in the NFL which would mean a base salary of $840K as a backup quarterback. Still not a bad gig if you can get it.
